Denny Hamlin Wins at Dover, Securing His Fourth Victory of the Season

In a demonstration of skill and determination, Denny Hamlin conquered the Dover Motor Speedway for the second consecutive time, securing his fourth victory of the season in the NASCAR Cup series. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver once again demonstrated his ability to overcome challenges, both on and off the track. Hamlin, at 44 years old, joked about the difficulties of age when invited to sign a surfboard for a charitable cause. However, on the track, his vision and skill were impeccable, surpassing his competitors with a dominant performance.

I love being able to keep performing at a high level. Every morning, when I wake up, I hope to still have what I had yesterday.

Hamlin’s victory in the No. 11 Toyota adds to his wins at Martinsville, Darlington, and Michigan, solidifying his position as one of the most outstanding drivers of the season. With 58 victories in the NASCAR Cup Series, Hamlin is only two wins away from reaching Kevin Harvick on the list of the ten drivers with the most wins in the history of the competition. Although still seeking his first championship, Hamlin focuses on accumulating victories and leaving a lasting legacy in the sport. Hamlin’s victory came after a setback in court with his team 23XI Racing, but the driver showed that adversity does not affect his performance on the track. In the race, Hamlin surpassed the competition from his teammate Chase Briscoe, and from Hendrick Motorsports drivers Alex Bowman and Kyle Larson, who took the following places.

I thought I had done everything I needed. I thought I had it for a second. I wish the Camry, the back end, was about 3 centimeters shorter. I was so close to getting it done. I just couldn’t do it. Obviously, running with a teammate, I wanted to make sure at least one JGR car won.

The race in Dover, marked by high temperatures and a rain interruption, saw Hamlin change his fire suit and return to the track with used tires. Despite this, Hamlin maintained his position and secured the victory. Hamlin joins a select group of 19 drivers who have won three times at Dover and is the thirteenth to achieve consecutive victories at this track.

I just studied some of the greats here. I was very fortunate to have Martin Truex as a teammate. Jimmie Johnson, watching him win (11) times here. You learn from the greats and change your game to match, you have success like this.

The In-Season Challenge and Joey Logano’s Milestone

Next week in Indianapolis, Ty Gibbs and Ty Dillon will compete for the first prize of NASCAR’s mid-season tournament, the In-season Challenge, a five-race event that emulates the NCAA basketball tournaments. In addition, Joey Logano celebrated his 600th career start, becoming the youngest driver to reach this milestone. Logano has participated in every race since 2009, and is close to Jeff Gordon’s record of 797 consecutive starts. The next stop for the NASCAR Cup Series will be at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where Kyle Larson won last season.
