Denny Hamlin Celebrates 60th Victory in Las Vegas, Dedicated to His Father

In an emotional day at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Denny Hamlin conquered his sixth checkered flag of the season, marking his 60th career victory. This triumph, dedicated to his father, who is facing health problems, secures Hamlin a place in the NASCAR championship final. Hamlin, 44 years old and three-time Daytona 500 winner, has been recognized as one of the most outstanding drivers in NASCAR history. This victory puts him back in the race for the championship, an achievement he hadn’t reached since 2021. In addition, he is the most successful driver for Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota. The Virginia driver, currently tied for tenth place on the NASCAR wins list with Kevin Harvick, couldn’t hold back the tears after an intense battle in the last ten laps. Hamlin overtook Kyle Larson and his JGR teammate, Chase Briscoe, securing a victory he considered crucial.

I am very happy that you were able to see victory number 60. That was very important to me.

Hamlin, who started from fifth position after the last pit stop, used new tires to overtake Joey Logano and, subsequently, Larson and Briscoe. This victory represents a milestone for his new crew chief, Chris Gayle, and is the most significant for Hamlin since 2020. Joe Gibbs, moved by Hamlin’s dedication, expressed his support and emotion at the victory. The race also saw Kyle Larson in second place with a Chevrolet from Hendrick Motorsports, followed by Christopher Bell and Chase Briscoe from JGR. Tyler Reddick, who competes for 23XI Racing, and Joey Logano completed the top six. Other prominent drivers in the competition were Chase Elliott, William Byron, and Ryan Blaney. William Byron, after losing control of his vehicle, collided with Ty Dillon, resulting in an accident that took him out of the race. Blaney, for his part, suffered a setback in his title aspirations due to a problem with a tire, finishing in 38th position. The next NASCAR race will be held at the Talladega Superspeedway.
