Denny Hamlin Wins in Las Vegas, Securing a Spot in the NASCAR Final

In an emotional race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Denny Hamlin achieved his sixth victory of the year and the 60th of his career, a milestone dedicated to his father, who is facing health issues. This victory is not only significant for the number, but also secures him a place in the NASCAR championship final. Hamlin, 44, and three-time Daytona 500 winner, has proven to be one of the most outstanding drivers, and this victory propels him back into the title race, something he hadn’t achieved since 2021. In addition, he is the most successful driver for Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota. The Virginia driver, currently tied for tenth place on the NASCAR wins list, couldn’t hold back the tears after an intense battle in the last ten laps, surpassing Kyle Larson and his teammate Chase Briscoe.

“This victory is for my father, who introduced me to the world of motorsport and always supported me,” declared Hamlin.

Hamlin, who chose to change all four tires on the last stop, rallied from fifth position to overtake Joey Logano, and finally Briscoe, who only had two new tires. Crew chief Chris Gayle highlighted the importance of the adjustments in the final stop, which contributed to Hamlin’s seventh victory of the season. In the race, Kyle Larson finished in second place. Christopher Bell and Chase Briscoe, both from Joe Gibbs Racing, finished third and fourth respectively, while Tyler Reddick, who races for 23XI Racing, was fifth. Joey Logano, the current Cup Series champion, finished in sixth place. The race also left difficult moments for other drivers. William Byron had an accident that took him out of the competition, and Ryan Blaney suffered a problem with the tires that affected his chances in the race. Blaney, who was second in the standings, saw his title aspirations seriously affected after an incident with his tires that led him to crash into the wall with nine laps to go in the first stage. He finished in 38th position, falling to the bottom of the eight-driver playoff round. The next NASCAR race will take place at the Talladega Superspeedway.
