In an exciting race at Talladega Superspeedway, Chase Briscoe secured his place in the NASCAR season finale by earning his first victory on a high-speed circuit.

Briscoe Wins at Talladega

Briscoe, from the Joe Gibbs Racing team, achieved his first victory on this type of circuit, joining his teammate Denny Hamlin as the Toyota drivers who have already secured a place in the final, where the championship will be decided at Phoenix Raceway. The race, which extended into overtime, saw Briscoe start from sixth position. Hendrick Motorsports drivers, William Byron and Kyle Larson, led the initial row, looking to control the restart. Byron received support from Carson Hocevar, while Larson was pushed by Bubba Wallace. Although Larson managed to briefly lead, fuel problems relegated him, and Byron, after a push from Hocevar, lost control and spun. Briscoe, for his part, had the support of Ty Gibbs, his teammate, who is not competing for the championship.

Ty Gibbs, an incredible teammate. Honestly, I wouldn’t have won the race without him. This is an amazing team effort. I can’t believe I won a race on a high-speed circuit. I haven’t done it at any level.

There are still two spots available for the championship final, which will be decided in the next race. Larson and Christopher Bell are above the elimination line, while Byron, Chase Elliott, Joey Logano, and Ryan Blaney are below. The race went into overtime after Chris Buescher, who was leading, was hit by Byron, who in turn was pushed by Hocevar. Buescher suffered a hard crash. Todd Gilliland finished second, while Gibbs and Wallace completed the top four spots.

Elliott Suffers at Talladega

Chase Elliott, one of NASCAR’s favorites, suffered a setback in the first part of the race, getting involved in an accident that affected his chances of advancing to the final. Elliott, who was already below the cut line, was affected by a multiple-car crash, forcing his team to make repairs and relegating him to the last position. Elliott will now need to seek victory at Martinsville Speedway to secure his place in the final at Phoenix. It is what it is, I can’t change it now. All eyes on Martinsville and try to get a win. The next race, which will define the finalists of the championship, will take place next Sunday at Martinsville Speedway.
