Briscoe Takes the Lead in the Brickyard 400 Qualifying

Chase Briscoe achieved an impressive milestone by securing the pole position for the Brickyard 400, becoming the first driver to win the qualifying in the three crown jewel races of NASCAR in the same season.

Briscoe set a lap time of 183.165 mph in Saturday’s qualifying session, surpassing Bubba Wallace and securing the first starting position.

Briscoe has proven to be a formidable competitor this season, and this qualifying victory is a testament to his skill and determination.

Wallace, from the Joe Gibbs Racing team, finished second with a lap of 183.117 mph. This is Briscoe’s fifth pole position of the season, adding to those obtained in the Daytona 500 and the Coca-Cola 600.

The race will take place on the 2.5-mile oval of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, in Briscoe’s home state. The driver will have the opportunity to complete the sweep of the crown jewel at the Southern 500 at the end of August.

The qualifying session took place after a brief rescheduled practice session, as Friday’s practice was disrupted by rain.

Ty Gibbs, Briscoe’s teammate, will start in fifth position and Ty Dillon in twenty-sixth.

Denny Hamlin, winner of last week’s race, will face a significant challenge starting from the back of the grid (39th) after a hard crash during qualifying.

Kyle Larson, the winner of last year’s race, will start from the 13th position.
