The UFC bantamweight champion, Merab Dvalishvili, has marked an impressive milestone in his title defense against Cory Sandhagen. Dvalishvili became the first fighter in UFC history to achieve 100 takedowns inside the octagon.
Dvalishvili surpassed the hundred takedown mark, managing to take Sandhagen down 20 times, which raises his UFC takedown total to 117.
Before Dvalishvili, the closest fighter to reach 100 takedowns was Georges St-Pierre, who recorded 90 during his UFC career. Only four fighters have managed to reach 75 takedowns, demonstrating the magnitude of Dvalishvili’s achievement. At 34 years old, “The Machine” has already requested his fourth title defense for December, suggesting that he could surpass 200 takedowns in his career.
