Clash of Titans at UFC 322: Della Maddalena vs. Makhachev and Shevchenko vs. Zhang
The pound-for-pound supremacy in mixed martial arts (MMA) is at stake at UFC 322. UFC welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena will defend his title against former lightweight champion Islam Makhachev in the main event to be held at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Della Maddalena will seek his first title defense, while Makhachev, who moved up a weight class for this opportunity, will compete in his sixth consecutive championship fight.
Della Maddalena and Makhachev are ranked 8th and 2nd, respectively, in the men’s pound-for-pound rankings.
In the co-main event, former strawweight champion Zhang Weili moves up to the women’s flyweight division to face Valentina Shevchenko for the belt.
Zhang is ranked number 1 in the women’s pound-for-pound ranking, while Shevchenko is ranked number 2.
