Arman Tsarukyan Sparks Controversy at UFC Fight Night Weigh-in
UFC lightweight fighter Arman Tsarukyan was involved in an incident during the ceremonial weigh-in prior to his fight at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Qatar. Tsarukyan, who will face Dan Hooker, headbutted his opponent. Tsarukyan (22-3) headbutted Hooker (24-12) while both were preparing for the traditional final face-off before their five-round fight. Despite the blow, Hooker, from New Zealand, did not appear to suffer any damage and even reacted with apparent amusement to the incident.Confrontations during weigh-ins are uncommon in the UFC. However, Tsarukyan, originally from Armenia, has a history of similar incidents. In 2024, he was suspended and fined by the Nevada State Athletic Commission after assaulting a fan during his entrance to the octagon at UFC 300 in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Since the UFC regulates itself in Qatar, any sanction for Friday’s headbutt will have to be imposed by the promotion itself. Tsarukyan seeks to establish himself as a contender for the lightweight title. He was scheduled to fight for the UFC title against Islam Makhachev in January, but had to withdraw the day before the fight due to back spasms. Currently, Tsarukyan and Hooker are ranked number 1 and number 6 respectively in the UFC lightweight division.Come on, I love it!
