Ilia Topuria Reveals Reasons Behind His Absence in the UFC
The renowned MMA fighter, Ilia Topuria, has shared through social media the reasons that have led him to take a break in his career within the UFC. Topuria, who conquered the lightweight title adding it to the featherweight title after his victory over Charles Oliveira at the beginning of this year, surprised his followers by announcing his temporary withdrawal from the octagon at the end of November. This decision led to Paddy Pimblett facing Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight title on January 24th. On Monday, Topuria revealed details about the reasons behind his absence.
Furthermore, the wrestler added:Over the past few weeks, I made the difficult decision to temporarily step away from defending my title. This was not a decision I took lightly. However, when circumstances arise that threaten your personal integrity, your family, and your reputation, there comes a time when you must address them directly.

Topuria also indicated that:In recent months, I have been subjected to severe and unacceptable pressure, including threats to spread false accusations of domestic abuse unless financial demands were met. These accusations are completely unfounded.

To conclude, Topuria stated:All relevant evidence has been carefully preserved and documented, including audio recordings, written communications, witness statements, and video material. This evidence has been presented to the competent judicial authorities in order to take legal action for attempted extortion, falsification of evidence, misappropriation of funds and personal property, and multiple threats.
