Tatsuro Taira Makes a Strong Comeback at UFC Fight Night

UFC’s promising flyweight, Tatsuro Taira, demonstrated his resilience after his first professional loss, dominating HyunSung Park at the UFC Fight Night event.

Taira (17-1) submitted Park (10-1) with a face crank in the second round, marking his triumphant return after the split decision loss to Brandon Royval in October.

The 25-year-old Japanese fighter showcased his best version, achieving his fifth finish since 2022, the most in the division.

The 125-pound matchup was set with little notice. Taira was originally scheduled to face Amir Albazi, who withdrew due to medical issues. Park, who had a fight scheduled, accepted the challenge.

The fight turned out to be a clear dominance by Taira. In the first minute, he connected a right hand that sent Park to the canvas, securing his position on his opponent’s back.

In the second round, Taira repeated the strategy, taking Park to the ground quickly. This time, Park couldn’t counter Taira’s superiority, submitting to the face crank.

Taira has finished eight of his 17 victories by submission and five by knockout.

With this victory, Taira improves his UFC record to 7-1. Before the event, he was in sixth place in the flyweight division.

Park, who joined the company in 2023, arrived at the event unranked.
