Hecher Sosa signs with UFC after a week of mourning
The Spanish bantamweight, Hecher Sosa, secured a contract with the UFC on the “Dana White’s Contender Series” program on Tuesday, demonstrating remarkable strength following the death of his father. Sosa (14-1) defeated Mackson Lee (9-1) by unanimous decision in the main event of the “Contender Series” in Las Vegas. The 30-year-old fighter decided to compete despite receiving the news of his father’s death on Sunday morning, who was battling cancer. This loss is added to that of her sister, who also died of cancer a year ago.Sosa, originally from Arrecife, Spain, revealed that he was informed of his father’s passing while in the process of cutting weight for the 135-pound fight. In an Instagram post, he shared the anguish he felt thinking his father wouldn’t see him compete against White, but finally came to the conclusion that his father had told him: “Son, don’t worry, we started this together and we’ll finish it together.” The fight against Lee was dominated by Sosa for three rounds, which led White to immediately sign him with the UFC.“Today I can’t speak [with my father], but he is the reason why I am here. He is the reason why I am the man I am, and I will continue to represent him,” Sosa declared through an interpreter.

I’m going to give you the opportunity to keep your promises to your family,” White said.
