Prochazka vs. Ulberg: Clash for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship in April

The undisputed UFC light heavyweight championship will be on the line in April, when Jiri Prochazka and Carlos Ulberg face off for the vacant title at UFC 327.

The announcement of this fight for the 205-pound title was made on Friday by UFC CEO Dana White. This implies that former champion Alex Pereira, who has expressed interest in moving up to the heavyweight category, has vacated the belt.

White did not offer comments on the end of Pereira’s reign as champion. Pereira’s team did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The new light heavyweight title fight will headline UFC 327 on April 11 at the Kaseya Center in Miami.

Prochazka (32-5-1) is a former light heavyweight champion, but was forced to vacate the title in 2022 due to an injury. He challenged Pereira for the belt twice, in 2023 and 2024, losing both times by knockout in the second round. After his second loss to Pereira, Prochazka has achieved two consecutive victories by finish against Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree Jr.

Ulberg (13-1), who resides and trains in New Zealand, has been steadily climbing the light heavyweight rankings since signing with the UFC in 2020. After losing his UFC debut in 2021, he has won nine fights in a row. He is coming off a first-round knockout against Dominick Reyes in September.
