Patricio Pitbull Rejects Fight with Losene Keita After Missing Weight
The renowned featherweight fighter, Patricio Pitbull, has declined to face Losene Keita at the UFC Fight Night event on Saturday, after Keita exceeded the weight limit by three pounds during the weigh-in in Paris. Pitbull, 38, made it clear that he would not accept an agreed-upon weight deal after Keita failed to make weight. Despite the fight being scheduled on short notice, Pitbull argued that his younger opponent should have had an easier time making weight, considering that Keita resides and trains in Europe, while Pitbull is based in Brazil.Pitbull continued expressing his frustration, accusing Keita of not making the necessary effort to make weight.“He said in an interview that he was faster, stronger, and younger,” commented Pitbull in a video published by UFC Brazil. “I gave him all the advantages in addition to allowing this fight to take place here in Paris. He drove two hours to get here, so there was no suffering. His weight was low, he reached 165 [pounds] like me.”

Keita, 27, was scheduled to debut in the UFC. The fighter offered a public apology for not making weight. “For the first time in 25 fights, I couldn’t make weight, and it had to happen in my UFC debut,” Keita wrote on X. “I wanted to continue and would have given everything to make weight, but my body wouldn’t. I sincerely apologize to my fans. I will return, as I do every time I fall in life.” Pitbull (37-8) is a former Bellator MMA champion. He signed with the UFC earlier this year and has already fought twice in 2025. He has requested the UFC to relocate him to the UFC Fight Night card on October 11 in Rio de Janeiro.“I am absolutely sure he didn’t try [to lose weight]. At 9 a.m., he weighed in, he was over, and instead of trying until 11 a.m., which is the [time] limit, he was eating baby food. Fuck you, man. If you want to blame someone, blame my opponent.”
