PFL Reveals Ambitious Plans for 2026: A Globalized Calendar
The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has announced its plans for the year 2026, marking a significant expansion in the world of mixed martial arts. The projected calendar includes a total of 24 events, distributed across 16 global events and eight regional events, encompassing the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) and Africa series.
The promotion’s first main event in 2026 will be a key moment. Usman Nurmagomedov will defend his lightweight title for the first time, facing Alfie Davis (20-5-1). This fight is scheduled for February 7th at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
In addition to Dubai, the initial PFL calendar for next year includes events in March in Madrid and Pittsburgh, and an event in April in Chicago. The stop in Madrid will represent the promotion’s first foray into Spain.
Founded in 2017, the PFL has undergone a notable transformation in its leadership in recent months.
The promotion was previously structured around a regular season and playoffs. That format was replaced in 2025 by a single-elimination tournament. John Martin has decided to completely abandon the tournament model, opting for a more traditional MMA matchmaking format.
