PFL Reveals Ambitious Plans for 2026: A Globalized Calendar
The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has announced its plans for the year 2026, promising a season packed with action and global expansion. The calendar will include a total of 24 events, divided into 16 international events and eight regional events, focusing on the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) and Africa series.
The promotion’s first main event in 2026 will be a must-see spectacle. Usman Nurmagomedov will defend his lightweight title for the first time, facing Alfie Davis (20-5-1). This exciting match is scheduled for February 7th at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
In addition to Dubai, the initial PFL calendar for 2026 includes events in March in Madrid and Pittsburgh, and one in April in Chicago. The stop in Madrid will mark the promotion’s first foray into Spanish territory, promising an unforgettable experience for European fans.
Founded in 2017, the PFL has undergone a significant transformation in its leadership in recent months. John Martin, former executive at Turner and Time Warner, took over as CEO in July, while Lenny Daniels, former president of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports, was appointed chief operating officer this week.
Historically, the PFL had been structured around a regular season and a playoff format. However, in 2025, this model gave way to a single-elimination tournament. Martin has decided to move away entirely from the tournament model, favoring a more traditional MMA matchmaking format.
The PFL’s national broadcast agreement with ESPN will expire at the end of 2026.
