Alex Pereira Seeks Rematch Against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 320
UFC light heavyweight ex-champion Alex Pereira will try to regain the title against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 320, an event that will take place on October 4 in Las Vegas.
The announcement of the rematch for the 205-pound title was made by UFC CEO Dana White through his social media on Tuesday. The pay-per-view event UFC 320 will be held at the T-Mobile Arena.
Pereira (12-3), former kickboxing champion in multiple categories and former UFC middleweight champion, became one of the biggest stars in the sport in 2024. However, he lost his belt by decision to Ankalaev (21-1-1) at UFC 313 in March.
The 38-year-old Brazilian, Pereira, is considered one of the most decorated combat sports athletes of all time. He achieved impressive knockouts over Jamahal Hill, JiYí Procházka, and Khalil Rountree Jr.
Ankalaev, from Dagestan, is likely the favorite to beat him for the second time. The 33-year-old fighter remains undefeated in his last 13 appearances.
In addition to the main event, White announced a bantamweight title fight between Merab Dvalishvili (20-4) and Cory Sandhagen (18-5) as the co-main event. Dvalishvili will seek his third title defense this year, adding victories over Umar Nurmagomedov and Sean O’Malley. Sandhagen will seek his first undisputed UFC championship. He lost to Petr Yan in an interim title fight in 2021.
Light heavyweight contenders Procházka (31-5-1) and Rountree (14-6) will also face off on the main card of UFC 320.
