Alex Pereira looks to regain the title against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 320
The former UFC light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira, will face Magomed Ankalaev in a highly anticipated title fight at UFC 320, next October 4th in Las Vegas.
The rematch announcement was made by UFC CEO Dana White through his social media. The pay-per-view event UFC 320 will take place at the T-Mobile Arena.
Pereira (12-3), who was also a kickboxing champion in multiple categories and UFC middleweight champion, has become one of the most prominent figures in the sport. However, he lost his belt by decision to Ankalaev (21-1-1) at UFC 313 in March.Pereira, 38, is considered one of the most decorated athletes in the history of combat sports. In 2024, he was one of the favorites to be Fighter of the Year, thanks to his impressive knockouts over Jamahal Hill, JiYí Procházka, and Khalil Rountree Jr.
Ankalaev, from Dagestan, is the favorite to beat Pereira for the second time. The 33-year-old fighter remains undefeated in his last 13 appearances.
In addition to the main event, White announced a bantamweight title fight between Merab Dvalishvili (20-4) and Cory Sandhagen (18-5) as the co-main event. Dvalishvili will seek his third title defense this year, adding victories over Umar Nurmagomedov and Sean O’Malley. Sandhagen, for his part, will seek his first undisputed UFC championship. He lost to Petr Yan in an interim title fight in 2021.
Light heavyweight contenders Procházka (31-5-1) and Rountree (14-6) will also face off on the main card of UFC 320.
