Aljamain Sterling vs. Brian Ortega Headline Card in Shanghai

Former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling will face Brian Ortega in a featherweight bout this summer. The official announcement was made on Wednesday, generating great anticipation among mixed martial arts fans.

Sterling and Ortega will face each other in the co-main event of the UFC Fight Night to be held on August 23 in Shanghai. This event marks the return of the UFC to Shanghai since 2017, promising a night full of action and excitement.

In the main event, promising Chinese light heavyweight Zhang Mingyang will face Johnny Walker. This fight promises to be a clash of styles and an opportunity for both fighters to prove their worth on the international scene.

Sterling seeks to establish himself as a title contender in his new weight class. After vacating the 135-pound belt, the former champion moved up in weight and secured a decision victory over Calvin Kattar. However, he suffered a defeat against Movsar Evloev in December.

Ortega, for his part, has also considered moving up a weight class. With a 1-3 record in his last four fights, Ortega has had two opportunities to fight for the UFC title, losing to Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski. His fight against Sterling in August will be his first fight since September of last year.

Zhang, 26, will headline his first UFC event. He comes into this fight after the most outstanding victory of his career, a first-round knockout against Anthony Smith in April.
