Charles Oliveira vs. Mateusz Gamrot to Headline Rio de Janeiro Card

UFC lightweight ex-champion Charles Oliveira will face Mateusz Gamrot in his long-awaited return home next month. This exciting match will headline the UFC Fight Night event on October 11 in Rio de Janeiro.

Oliveira, with a record of 35-11, will face Gamrot, who holds a record of 25-3. The fight will mark Oliveira’s first appearance in Brazil since March 2020.

Originally, Oliveira was scheduled to face Rafael Fiziev, but the latter withdrew last week due to an injury.

The UFC considered several opponents to replace Fiziev. Gamrot, for his part, publicly requested the opportunity to fight Oliveira on short notice.

Gamrot has had an outstanding performance in his last five appearances, with a record of 4-1. His only loss was against ranked contender Dan Hooker in August 2024. Gamrot has notable victories over Rafael dos Anjos, Fiziev, and Arman Tsarukyan.

Oliveira seeks to recover after a knockout loss to Ilia Topuria in a fight for the vacant title in July.

In the UFC lightweight rankings, Oliveira and Gamrot hold the number 4 and 8 spots, respectively. The UFC Fight Night event will take place at the Farmasi Arena.
