Title Rematch: Nurmagomedov vs. Hughes in Dubai

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has confirmed the lightweight championship rematch between Usman Nurmagomedov and Paul Hughes, which will take place on October 3 in Dubai.

The anticipation for this second match has grown since January, when Nurmagomedov defeated Hughes by majority decision in a very close encounter. The first fight also took place in Dubai. Nurmagomedov, cousin of the legendary Khabib Nurmagomedov, demonstrated his dominance as the defending champion of Bellator MMA. However, Hughes pushed him to the limit in the PFL lightweight title fight.

Hughes expressed his disagreement with the scorecards, calling them “quite ridiculous”.

Hughes, 28, achieved a knockout victory in the first round against Bruno Miranda in May. Nurmagomedov, for his part, has not fought since his victory against Hughes. In addition, the PFL announced a light heavyweight bout between Corey Anderson and Dovlet Yagshimuradov for the October 3rd event.
