Jorge Masvidal Wins Legal Victory Worth Millions Against Fanmio

UFC veteran Jorge Masvidal has secured a significant legal victory. A Florida judge issued a default judgment in favor of Masvidal in his lawsuit against the online platform Fanmio. The company was the promoter of his 2024 boxing match against Nate Diaz. Judge Beatrice Butchko Sanchez approved Masvidal’s request, granting the ruling after an arbitrator awarded the former BMF champion $5,315,268.64, plus post-judgment interest. Masvidal sued Fanmio in January, alleging that his agreement for the fight with Diaz included a $6 million purse, plus an additional $1 million if he won the fight. Masvidal lost the fight by decision and claimed to have received only a $150,000 advance and a $1 million payment. The referee ruled in favor of Masvidal, and with final approval, the matter has been resolved. However, Fanmio still faces lawsuits from other fighters. Nate Diaz filed a lawsuit against Fanmio two weeks after Masvidal’s case, claiming he was owed more than $9 million. An arbitrator awarded Diaz $6 million, plus attorney’s fees. That case is still awaiting final approval. In March, Fanmio filed a lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions and Ryan Garcia for a canceled exhibition match with Rukiya Anpo that was scheduled for December 31, 2024. Garcia chose to fight Rolando Romero in May.
