Jorge Masvidal Wins Legal Victory Worth Millions Against Fanmio

UFC veteran Jorge Masvidal has secured a significant victory in his legal battle against the online platform Fanmio. A Florida judge has awarded Masvidal a default judgment for over $5 million. Judge Beatrice Butchko Sanchez approved Masvidal’s request, confirming the arbitrator’s ruling that awarded him $5,315,268.64, plus post-judgment interest related to his 2024 boxing match against Nate Diaz. Masvidal sued Fanmio in January, alleging breach of contract. According to the agreement, Masvidal was to receive a purse of $6 million, plus an additional million if he won the fight. Despite losing by decision, Masvidal claimed to have received only a $150,000 advance and a $1 million payment.

The referee ruled in favor of Masvidal, and with the final approval, the case has concluded.

Although this case has come to an end, Fanmio still faces other legal disputes with several fighters. Nate Diaz also filed a lawsuit against Fanmio, seeking more than $9 million. An arbitrator ruled in favor of Diaz, awarding him $6 million, in addition to attorney’s fees. This case is still awaiting final approval. In March, Fanmio initiated a lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions and Ryan Garcia, due to the cancellation of an exhibition fight with Rukiya Anpo, scheduled for December 31, 2024. Garcia, instead, chose to face Rolando Romero in May.
