UFC: Luxury Card in New York
The leading mixed martial arts (MMA) company is preparing a high-caliber event for its annual pay-per-view appointment in New York. Two stellar fights promise to ignite Madison Square Garden on November 15th, in what is anticipated to be an unforgettable night for fans.
The former lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, will seek a second title by facing the current welterweight champion, Jack Della Maddalena, in a highly anticipated match. In the co-main event, the former strawweight champion, Zhang Weili, will move up to the flyweight division to challenge Valentina Shevchenko.
Makhachev, who holds an impressive record of 27-1, vacated the 155-pound title earlier this year, anticipating his move to welterweight. For his part, Zhang (26-3) did the same with his 115-pound championship to compete at 125 pounds.
Makhachev and Della Maddalena, ranked among the best pound-for-pound fighters worldwide, promise a high-intensity clash. Makhachev, after defending his lightweight title on multiple occasions, will seek to emulate his mentor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and become a champion in two divisions.
Della Maddalena, with a record of 18-2, comes into this fight with an impressive streak, not knowing defeat since the beginning of his professional career. The Australian conquered the UFC title after defeating Belal Muhammad by unanimous decision in May.
Zhang and Shevchenko, also recognized as the best pound-for-pound fighters, will face each other in a fight that promises strong emotions. Zhang arrives after defending her title against Tatiana Suarez in February. Shevchenko, a legend in the flyweight division, will seek to add another chapter to her successful career.
In addition, a welterweight clash was announced between former champion Leon Edwards (22-5) and promising Brazilian contender Carlos Prates (22-7), adding more appeal to the card.
