Iasmin Lucindo out of action due to doping test

UFC strawweight fighter Iasmin Lucindo was forced to withdraw from her scheduled fight next month due to a failed drug test. Her team is investigating the case as a possible supplement contamination. Lucindo, who was scheduled to face Gillian Robertson at UFC Fight Night on December 13, was removed from the fight after testing positive for traces of the anabolic steroid mesterolone. The athlete’s team confirmed the news. The Nevada State Athletic Commission has temporarily suspended the 23-year-old fighter while her team investigates the cause of the adverse result. Lucindo denies having knowingly ingested the prohibited substance.

Iasmin has not knowingly used any prohibited substance and, based on the amount and type of metabolites detected, we firmly believe that this is a case of contamination and not intentional use. We are working diligently, in collaboration with Drug Free Sports and the UFC, to identify the source of this contamination.

Tiago Okamura, Lucindo’s manager
According to Okamura, the positive test was conducted at the end of September. Lucindo presented negative results in August and October. If the NSAC determines that the positive result was caused by a contaminated supplement, Lucindo could face a reduced suspension. Lucindo, from Brazil, is one of the most outstanding prospects in the 115-pound division. He is currently ranked number 7 in the UFC rankings and has a record of 5-2. His last victory was against Angela Hill by decision in August.
