Iasmin Lucindo Withdraws from Fight Due to Positive Drug Test
UFC strawweight fighter Iasmin Lucindo was forced to withdraw from her scheduled fight next month due to a positive drug test result. Her team is investigating the case as a possible supplement contamination. Lucindo, with a record of 18-6, was scheduled to face Gillian Robertson (16-8) at UFC Fight Night on December 13th. However, she was removed from the fight after testing positive for traces of the anabolic steroid mesterolone, as confirmed by her team. The 23-year-old athlete has been temporarily suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, while her team investigates the cause of the test failure. Lucindo denies having knowingly ingested the prohibited substance.Okamura added that the positive test occurred at the end of September. Lucindo provided negative drug tests in August and October. If the NSAC determines that the positive test was caused by a contaminated supplement, Lucindo could face a reduced suspension. Lucindo, from Brazil, is one of the most outstanding prospects in the 115-pound division. He is currently ranked number 7 in the UFC rankings and number 9 in the division, with a record of 5-2. His last victory was against Angela Hill by decision in August.Iasmin has not knowingly used any prohibited substance and, based on the amount and type of metabolites detected, we firmly believe that this is a case of contamination rather than intentional use,” declared Lucindo’s manager, Tiago Okamura.
