Anthony “Fluffy” Hernandez seeks the top of the UFC after a resounding victory

Anthony “Fluffy” Hernandez demonstrated his determination to become a UFC champion with a dominant performance on Saturday. Hernandez (15-2) submitted Roman Dolidze (15-4) at the UFC Fight Night event held in Las Vegas, solidifying his position in the middleweight category. The victory, obtained via a rear naked choke at 2:45 of the fourth round, extends his winning streak to eight consecutive fights. Hernández was quick to speak up, challenging the winner of next week’s title fight between Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev.

I wanted to show what I am capable of in this fight. I want a title shot. What else do I have to do? This is all I know, violence and war. Give me a title shot and I promise I will be the next champion.

Hernández achieved the submission after hurting Dolidze with a combination of punches and knee strikes. The fighter, showing a remarkable ability to adapt, secured the rear naked choke from a standing position, marking his ninth submission finish in his career. UFC statistics reveal the superiority of Hernandez, who surpassed Dolidze in total strikes (108-47) and managed to land 9 out of 11 takedown attempts. Dolidze’s corner acknowledged the disadvantage, urging him to seek the finish in the fourth round. However, Hernandez’s performance was relentless, outperforming his opponent in every aspect. This defeat represents the first for Dolidze since February 2024 and the first finish in his professional career. Training at MMA Gold in California, Hernandez has defeated figures like Brendan Allen and Michel Pereira in his last three fights. Before Saturday’s fight, Hernandez was ranked number 10 in the division.
