Charles Oliveira vs. Rafael Fiziev Canceled in UFC

A lightweight main event between Charles Oliveira and Rafael Fiziev has been canceled for October 11.

The 155-pound fight was scheduled to headline the UFC Fight Night in Rio de Janeiro. However, sources confirmed that Fiziev (13-4) was forced to withdraw due to an injury.

The UFC has not yet commented on Fiziev’s injury or a possible replacement.

Oliveira (35-11), 35 years old, was ready to compete in his native country, Brazil, for the first time since March 2020. He was looking to recover from a knockout loss to Ilia Topuria in his June fight for the vacant division title.

Fiziev, 32, would have sought to build on a decision victory against Ignacio Bahamondes in June. Before that, he lost by decision to Justin Gaethje in a highly anticipated fight in March.
