Charles Oliveira vs. Rafael Fiziev Canceled at UFC Fight Night
The UFC has suffered a major setback by losing the lightweight main event between Charles Oliveira and Rafael Fiziev, scheduled for October 11.
The 155-pound matchup was scheduled to headline the UFC Fight Night in Rio de Janeiro, but Fiziev (13-4) was forced to withdraw due to an injury, according to sources.
The UFC has not yet commented on Fiziev’s injury or a possible replacement.
Oliveira (35-11), 35 years old, was scheduled to compete in his home country, Brazil, for the first time since March 2020. He was looking to recover from a knockout loss to Ilia Topuria in their June bout for the vacant division title.
Fiziev, 32, was looking to build on a decision win over Ignacio Bahamondes in June. Before that, he suffered a decision loss to Justin Gaethje on short notice in March.
