Charles Oliveira vs. Rafael Fiziev: Main Event Canceled in UFC

A major setback shakes the world of mixed martial arts (MMA). The expected main event between Charles Oliveira and Rafael Fiziev, scheduled for October 11th, has been canceled. The fight, which was to headline the UFC Fight Night in Rio de Janeiro, is off the card due to an injury to Fiziev.

The news of Fiziev’s injury was confirmed by sources close to Alofoke Deportes.

So far, the UFC has not issued any official comments on Fiziev’s injury or the possible search for a replacement for Oliveira.

Oliveira, 35, was scheduled to compete in his home country, Brazil, for the first time since March 2020. He was looking to bounce back from the knockout loss suffered against Ilia Topuria in June, in the fight for the vacant division title.

Fiziev, 32, was coming off a decision victory over Ignacio Bahamondes in June. Previously, he had lost by decision to Justin Gaethje on short notice in March.
