FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots have suffered a significant loss on their offensive line. Starting left tackle, Will Campbell, was placed on the injured reserve list due to a right knee injury. Campbell’s injury will keep him out of action for at least the next four games, meaning his earliest possible return would be in the final regular season game against the Miami Dolphins, scheduled for January 3rd or 4th. In addition to Campbell’s absence, starting left guard Jared Wilson will also miss the next home game against the New York Giants due to a right ankle injury. Both Campbell and Wilson had to be taken off the field during the 26-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals last Sunday. Initially, the worst was feared for Campbell, but fortunately the situation was not so serious.
Vederian Lowe, a veteran with four years of experience and 21 starts in his career, is expected to take Campbell’s place at left tackle. Ben Brown, also with four years of experience and 10 starts, is next on the depth chart for the left guard position. It’s a blessing because it looked really bad. He hasn’t dealt with much adversity due to injuries.

The Patriots had kept the same offensive line in 11 of their first 12 games. After the game against the Giants, the team will have its bye week and then host the Buffalo Bills on December 14, in a game that could have significant implications in the AFC East standings. Next, New England will play two consecutive away games against the Baltimore Ravens and the New York Jets before closing the regular season at home against the Dolphins. The coach always tells us to take advantage of the opportunities we are given. He preaches that. He preaches that you prepare as if you were a starter, so I think that’s always on the minds of the guys.
