Dana White Questions Eddie Hearn’s Decision to Represent Tom Aspinall

The world of combat sports is constantly in motion, and statements from key figures always generate debate. Recently, Dana White, the well-known president of the UFC, expressed his bewilderment at the decision of Eddie Hearn, promoter of Matchroom, to represent the UFC heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall. Aspinall signed with Matchroom earlier this month, a move that will allow him to continue competing in the UFC while Hearn and his team take care of his commercial and professional interests. This agreement came after Zuffa Boxing, White’s promoter, signed one of Matchroom’s most prominent talents, Conor Benn, for a lucrative one-fight deal, news that Hearn called “devastating”.
Amid this exchange of views, White questioned Hearn’s foray into the world of MMA.

I don’t understand what the thought process was [behind the decision]

White was also confident that this will not affect the UFC’s ability to schedule Aspinall’s next fight. White was also blunt about the challenges that figures like Frank Warren and other promoters could pose, admitting that he has been “disappointed” so far.

We’ve dealt with some beauties in the last 25 years. I can promise you that. Eddie Hearn won’t be any different. It doesn’t matter who the representatives are. It doesn’t matter at all. We’ll close deals with guys.

Since the agreement between Hearn and Aspinall, the British promoter has openly expressed his opinion on the salary problems of UFC fighters.
His comments came after Jon Jones stated he was “ready, willing and physically able to enter” to fight on the UFC White House card in June, but was not offered a financial package he considered valuable. White responded to those comments, reiterating that, in his opinion, Jones was never going to be on the biggest billboard in the company’s history, despite admitting that negotiations did take place.
