Ilia Topuria challenges Terence Crawford after his victory
After Terence Crawford’s impressive victory over Canelo Álvarez, a new challenger has emerged, although not exactly one that interests the champion. Ilia Topuria, the undefeated UFC champion in two weight categories, has expressed his desire to face Crawford, the undisputed champion in three boxing divisions. Topuria used social media to suggest he would knock out Crawford if they met in the ring.Crawford not only downplayed Topuria’s challenges, but also called him a “clickbaiter” who “is not at the level” of Conor McGregor. Crawford stated that Topuria is only seeking notoriety and that there is nothing to discuss about a possible fight. Crawford also questioned why Topuria didn’t express his desire to fight when they met at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas. Crawford ruled out any value in a fight against Topuria, and rejected any comparison with the match between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and McGregor in 2017. Crawford stated that he doesn’t know who Topuria is and that he has never seen him fight, so he doesn’t consider them to be on the same level.First he calls me a drunk, then he uses MY song,” Topuria said on X. “Crawford, whenever you want, I’ll teach you how to dance that mariachi in the ring. And Canelo, I’ll save you a round after him.
