Ilia Topuria Challenges Terence Crawford: An Impossible Crossover?
Following Terence Crawford’s impressive victory, who was crowned undisputed super-middleweight champion, a new challenger has spoken up, although not precisely one who attracts Crawford’s interest. Ilia Topuria, undefeated champion of two UFC divisions, has expressed his desire to test his skills in boxing, directly targeting Crawford, the undisputed champion in three divisions. Topuria used social media to express his confidence in knocking out Crawford if they were to face each other in a boxing ring. Crawford’s response was immediate, dismissing Topuria as someone “drunk” and out of touch with reality. The controversy intensified when Topuria noticed that Crawford used the song “Canción del Mariachi” from the movie “Desperado” for his ring entrance, the same song that Topuria uses in his octagon appearances. Crawford downplayed the comparison during the post-fight press conference, but Topuria reacted on social media.Crawford not only ignored Topuria’s new challenges, but also called him a “clickbaiter” and stated that he is not at Conor McGregor’s level.First he calls me drunk, then he uses MY song. Crawford, whenever you want, I’ll teach you how to dance that mariachi in the ring. And Canelo, I’ll save you a round after him.

Crawford also revealed that he has never seen Topuria fight and questioned why the UFC champion did not express his desire to fight when they met at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas a few months ago. Crawford downplayed the possibility of a fight with “El Matador”, arguing that he sees no value in that matchup and rejected any comparison to the iconic 2017 fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and McGregor.I definitely think he’s looking for attention. I definitely think he would get in the ring with me for the fight check. That’s what we all do it for, but at the same time, I don’t know what the hell he’s doing. I don’t know what he’s thinking. There would be nothing to talk about.

What money would I get from fighting him? Tell me how much I’m going to earn from fighting him? He’s not even remotely at Conor McGregor’s level. Let’s be realistic. Enough is enough. Don’t even compare him to Conor… As I said, I don’t know this guy. I’ve never seen this guy fight, and I watch a lot of MMA.
