Tom Aspinall Will Defend the UFC Heavyweight Championship Against Ciryl Gane
The highly anticipated showdown for the undisputed UFC heavyweight championship between Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane is confirmed for October 25th. The main event will take place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, as part of the UFC 321 event, according to UFC CEO Dana White.
Aspinall, who has held the undisputed champion title since last month, will seek to defend his belt for the first time. Aspinall’s designation as champion came after Jon Jones’ decision to retire instead of facing him.
The English fighter, with an 8-1 record in the UFC and seven first-round finishes, comes to this fight with high morale. His only loss occurred in 2022 against Curtis Blaydes, due to a knee injury suffered in the first seconds of the fight.
For his part, Ciryl Gane, former interim champion, will seek to regain the title. Gane conquered the interim title in 2021 by defeating Derrick Lewis, although he failed to unify the championship against Francis Ngannou in 2022.
