Albazi vs. Taira Headline UFC Card in August
The UFC has announced an exciting matchup in the flyweight division for next August. Amir Albazi and Tatsuro Taira, two high-caliber contenders, will face off in a five-round battle. Amir Albazi (17-2) will face Tatsuro Taira (16-1) in the main event of UFC Fight Night on August 2nd. The event will take place at the Apex facility in Las Vegas. Albazi and Taira hold the number 3 and 5 positions, respectively, in the UFC flyweight division rankings. Both will seek to recover from their recent defeats. Albazi, from Iraq, returned from a long absence due to injury to face former champion Brandon Moreno in November, losing by decision. Despite having fought only twice in the last two years, his 5-1 record remains notable in the division, in part thanks to his three finishes. Taira, a 25-year-old from Japan, suffered the first defeat of his professional career against Brandon Royval in October. Before that loss, he had accumulated six consecutive victories. The current flyweight champion, Alexandre Pantoja, will defend his title against Kai Kara-France at UFC 317 on June 28th.
