Aaron Pico to Debut in UFC Against Lerone Murphy
Aaron Pico’s highly anticipated UFC debut will be against Lerone Murphy. The fight will take place at the UFC 319 event, which will be held in Chicago.
Pico, with a record of 13-4, was originally scheduled to debut against Movsar Evloev at a previous event. However, Evloev was forced to withdraw, leading Pico to request a new fight opportunity from the UFC as soon as possible.
The 145-pound fight against Murphy, who holds an undefeated record of 16-0-1, will be the co-main event of UFC 319, scheduled for August 16 in Chicago.
This change represents an interesting turn for the featherweight division. Pico, although he was not a champion in Bellator MMA, has been recognized as one of the best fighters outside of the UFC.
At 28 years old, Pico was considered one of the most promising prospects in MMA history, with an outstanding career in amateur wrestling and boxing.
Initially, Pico was set to face Evloev, who holds a prominent position in the division’s rankings. Now, his focus shifts to Murphy, an undefeated opponent, although with a lower ranking than Evloev.
The current featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, still hasn’t defined his next title defense.
