Yordan Alvarez Returns to Action with the Astros

Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez has been reinstated to the 60-day injured list this Tuesday, following his recovery from a right hand fracture that kept him out of action since May 3rd.

Alvarez returns to the team after participating in four rehabilitation games with the Corpus Christi, Double-A team, where he achieved seven hits in 15 at-bats, including four doubles, four RBIs, and one stolen base.

Initially, the injury was diagnosed as a muscle strain.

Alvarez’s return represents a significant reinforcement for the Astros on their path to the postseason. Last season, he led the team in batting average (.308), home runs (35), and RBIs (86).

Houston currently leads the American League West Division with a 1.5-game lead over the Seattle Mariners.

Before his injury, Alvarez, 28, had a batting average of .210 with three home runs and 18 RBIs in 29 games this season.
