SEATTLE – The New York Yankees have placed third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera on the 10-day injured list due to a fracture in his left ankle. The news was announced before Tuesday night’s game against the Seattle Mariners.

In a related move, infielder DJ LeMahieu, who completed his rehabilitation assignment, was reinstated from the 10-day injured list.

Cabrera suffered the fracture in the ninth inning of the Yankees’ 11-5 victory over Seattle on Monday night. The injury occurred during an unusual slide as he tried to reach home plate and score the team’s final run thanks to a sacrifice fly by Aaron Judge.

This is Cabrera’s fourth season in MLB, where he has established himself as a regular player in the Yankees’ lineup. So far this season, Cabrera is batting .243, with one home run and 11 RBIs.

He cares about everyone in this clubhouse. He loves being a Yankee. He wears his jersey with pride. This is a difficult situation, especially for a guy who has fought his whole life and finally had the opportunity to be our everyday player and has been doing it excellently.
