Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field to Host 2027 MLB All-Star Game

The commissioner of Major League Baseball (MLB), Rob Manfred, announced this Friday that the Chicago Cubs and the emblematic Wrigley Field will host the MLB All-Star Game in 2027. The expected meeting is scheduled for July 13, 2027.

“The hard work done to transform all of Wrigleyville into an exceptional destination deserves to be celebrated and shared nationally,” Manfred declared in a statement. “We are eager to bring the Summer Classic back to the historic Wrigley Field and collaborate with the Cubs, city and state officials, and the local organizing group to provide an extraordinary experience for Chicago baseball fans.”

This will be the fourth time Wrigley Field hosts the All-Star Game. In previous encounters, in 1947, 1962 and 1990, the American League took the victory. The 1990 All-Star Game was characterized by its low offensive production. The National League only managed two hits, the fewest for an All-Star team in history. That year’s Home Run Derby, with eight participants, totaled five home runs, with Ryne Sandberg being crowned champion thanks to his three home runs. The 2026 All-Star Game will be held in Philadelphia, as part of the 250th anniversary of American independence.
