The Los Angeles Dodgers began the 2025 MLB regular season as the top favorites for the title, a position they have held for more than two decades. Now, they are preparing for the 2025 World Series as the clear favorites to obtain their second consecutive championship. The Dodgers opened as favorites with a -210 odds to win the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays, who started with +175. The series spread was set at Dodgers -1.5 (-115) versus the Jays +1.5 (-105). The Blue Jays managed to beat the Seattle Mariners in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series on Monday, securing their place in the World Series, the first since 1993. If the Dodgers win another title, they will do it as favorites from start to finish for the second consecutive season. This would make them the first team to achieve this since the New York Yankees in 1999 and 2000, according to historical data. Despite their low odds throughout the season, even in moments of difficulty, the Dodgers had strong support from the betting public. Almost a third of all World Series bets, including those already settled, backed Los Angeles. Among the playoff teams, the Dodgers have accumulated 44.4% of the total bets since the start of the postseason.

Winning the championship for the Dodgers “would make many bettors happy,” while “the betting house will be cheering for the team that comes out of the American League, with the Blue Jays being the best outcome.”

Toronto, initially considered a team with little chance, began the season with odds of +6000. Although it attracted the attention of bettors after a late-season surge, the Blue Jays only accounted for 7.7% of the total bets. Game 1 of the World Series will be played on Friday at Rogers Centre. The Blue Jays, as the home team, opened at +125 on the money line, while the Dodgers are the favorites as the visiting team at -150.
