This would make them the first team to achieve this since the New York Yankees in 1999 and 2000, according to historical data. Despite their low odds throughout the season, even in moments of difficulty, the Dodgers had strong support from the betting public. Almost a third of all World Series bets, including those already settled, backed Los Angeles. Among the playoff teams, the Dodgers have accumulated 44.4% of the total bets since the start of the postseason.
Toronto, initially considered a team with little chance, began the season with odds of +6000. Although it attracted the attention of bettors after a late-season surge, the Blue Jays only accounted for 7.7% of the total bets. Game 1 of the World Series will be played on Friday at Rogers Centre.
