White Sox Activate Benintendi and Tauchman After Recovery
The Chicago White Sox have activated outfielders Andrew Benintendi and Mike Tauchman from the 10-day injured list, following their respective rehabilitation assignments. The announcement was made on Friday, marking the return of both players to the team.
Both players returned to the lineup for the first game of the home series against the Texas Rangers. Tauchman was placed second in the batting order and covered right field, while Benintendi batted fourth in the order as the designated hitter.
Benintendi, 30, was placed on the injured list on May 4 due to a left calf strain. Prior to the injury, the former Gold Glove winner (2021) and All-Star (2022) with the Kansas City Royals, was batting .224 with five home runs and 12 RBIs in 24 games for Chicago to start the season.
Tauchman, 34, only played in three games at the beginning of April, going 4-for-10 before being sidelined with a right hamstring strain. This is his first season with the White Sox, after spending the previous two with the Cubs.
In corresponding roster moves, the White Sox sent infielders Andrew Vaughn and Tim Elko to Triple-A Charlotte.
Vaughn, 27, batted .189 with five home runs and 19 RBIs in 48 games in his fifth MLB season, all with Chicago. Elko, 26, debuted in the Major Leagues on May 10 and appeared in 10 games, batting 5-for-31 (.161) with three home runs and five RBIs.
