Jordan Walker to the Injured List with Wrist Inflammation

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker was placed on the 10-day injured list due to inflammation in his left wrist.

This decision was applied retroactively to Thursday.

Walker did not participate in batting practice or Friday’s game against the Rangers, before the team made the decision on Saturday.

I don’t think it will be more than 10 days. We’ll have him back soon.

Oliver Marmol, Cardinals Manager

So far this season, Walker, 23, has a batting average of .215 with three home runs and 23 RBIs in 47 games.

However, his performance improved in his last 12 games, batting .333 (11 of 33) with a home run and 10 RBIs.

Walker was selected in the first round (21st overall) by St. Louis in 2020. In three seasons, he has a .247 average with 24 home runs and 94 RBIs in 215 games. In response to this situation, the Cardinals promoted outfielder Ryan Vilade from Triple-A Memphis. Vilade had a .280 batting average with five home runs and 31 RBIs in 48 games.

Vilade, 26, has played in the Major Leagues with the Colorado Rockies (2021) and the Detroit Tigers (2024). In 20 games, he batted .157 with one home run and five RBIs.

In addition, St. Louis called up Roddery Muñoz from Memphis and sent right-handed pitcher Gordon Graceffo to the same affiliate.

Muñoz had an ERA of 7.71 in four relief appearances with the Cardinals earlier this season. Graceffo was 2-0 with a 7.47 ERA in nine appearances with St. Louis.
