Sebastian Walcott, Rangers prospect, undergoes elbow surgery
Texas Rangers shortstop Sebastian Walcott, ranked as the number 5 prospect in baseball, underwent elbow surgery and is expected to be out of action for five to six months.
The Rangers reported that 19-year-old Walcott had an internal brace placed in his right elbow on Monday. This procedure is considered less invasive than a full elbow reconstruction, which could allow him to play at some point this season.
Walcott, who was invited to spring training, batted .255 with 13 home runs, 59 RBIs, and 32 stolen bases for Double-A Frisco last year.
The young player reported discomfort in his elbow, which led to surgery.
