Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout finally hit a home run on Thursday night in Seattle, breaking a 28-game homerless streak, the longest of his career and leaving him one short of reaching 400 in his career. Trout hit his 399th home run, sending a 3-2 fastball from Mariners right-handed pitcher Bryce Miller over the left-center field wall to tie the game at 4 runs in the fifth inning. Seattle ultimately won 7-6 in 12 innings. This was Trout’s 21st home run of the season and his first since August 6, in a span of 125 plate appearances. The player admitted that reaching the 400 home run mark had been on his mind in August.

I was thinking about it a little bit at first. But now I’m just trying to take good swings at the ball. I know it’s going to come. I’m not trying to go out there and try to hit a home run. My whole career is just taking good swings at the ball and they’ve gone over the fence.

The home run on Thursday night was Trout’s 56th against the Mariners, four more than any other player against Seattle. On the season, he’s batting .235 with 58 RBIs.
