Kerry Carpenter to the Injured List: Tigers Adjust Their Roster
The Detroit Tigers have decided to place outfielder Kerry Carpenter on the 10-day injured list due to a right hamstring injury, as reported by manager AJ Hinch this Tuesday.
In response to this situation, the Tigers plan to call up infielder Trey Sweeney from their Triple-A team, Toledo.
Following an MRI performed on Monday, it was determined that Carpenter did not suffer significant damage. However, Hinch emphasized that the team, leader in the American League, will take additional precautions, especially considering that there are 12 games left before the All-Star break.
Carpenter, 27 years old, has maintained a batting average of .257, with 16 home runs and 32 RBIs in 78 games during this season, which marks his fourth with the Tigers.
For his part, Sweeney, 25 years old, has a .221 average, with four home runs and 23 RBIs in 70 games with the Tigers this season. Sweeney was sent to Toledo on Saturday.
