Lane Thomas Exits Game with Foot Discomfort

Guardians outfielder Lane Thomas was forced to leave Friday night’s game against the Detroit Tigers due to mild symptoms of plantar fasciitis in his right foot. Thomas, who had already been out of action for eleven games at the end of May and the beginning of June due to the same condition, retired in the sixth inning. This season, the outfielder is batting .160 and .197 (13 of 66) since returning from the injured list on June 9. Despite this, he has hit four home runs in his last ten games.

We think it’s okay. The plantar fasciitis flared up a bit again and I didn’t like how it looked running around the garden. So, instead of risking it, I took him out,” manager Stephen Vogt stated after the 2-1 loss to the Tigers.

Thomas was also absent for five weeks due to a bone contusion in his right wrist, after being hit by a pitch during the home opener against the Chicago White Sox on April 8.
