Noelvi Marte to the Injured List with Oblique Strain
Atlanta – The Cincinnati Reds have placed third baseman Noelvi Marte on the 10-day injured list due to a left oblique strain.
Marte was removed minutes before the first pitch of the game in which the Atlanta Braves defeated the Reds 2-1 in 10 innings on Tuesday night. He was reported to be feeling discomfort in his left side, and the oblique injury was revealed on Wednesday.
Mars has a batting average of .294 with three home runs, 17 RBIs, and four stolen bases.
The Reds had already placed third baseman Jeimer Candelario on the injured list on April 30 due to a lower back strain. Santiago Espinal was Marte’s substitute starter on Tuesday night.
The Reds called up outfielder Rece Hinds from Triple-A Louisville before Wednesday night’s game against the Braves.
