Spencer Strider Returns to the Atlanta Braves’ Rotation
The Atlanta Braves have activated right-handed pitcher Spencer Strider from the 15-day injured list this Monday.
Strider, who was called to the All-Star, was placed on the injured list on April 21 due to a right hamstring strain, after his only appearance.
Strider, 26, is expected to return to the rotation on Tuesday, with a road start against the Washington Nationals.
After missing most of the 2024 season due to Tommy John surgery, Strider made his 2025 debut on April 16, allowing two runs on five hits in five innings in Toronto. He struck out five, walked one, and took the loss in a 3-1 defeat.
Strider completed a 65-pitch simulated game last week.
In 2023, Strider stood out with a 20-5 record and a 3.86 ERA in 186 2/3 innings, leading Major League Baseball with 281 strikeouts in his first All-Star campaign.
That year, he finished fourth in the voting for the National League Cy Young Award, after finishing second in the National League Rookie of the Year race in 2022, with an 11-5 record, a 2.67 ERA, and 202 strikeouts in 131 2/3 innings.
In five seasons with the Braves, who selected him in the fourth round in 2020, Strider has a record of 32-11 with an ERA of 3.47 in 68 games (55 starts), accumulating 500 strikeouts and 110 walks in 334 2/3 innings.
