The Toronto Blue Jays activated George Springer from the seven-day concussion injured list, reintegrating him into the lineup after missing 16 games due to a head injury.

Springer returns to action as designated hitter and leadoff hitter in Saturday’s game against the Texas Rangers.

The absence of Springer originated on July 28, when a 96 mph fastball from Baltimore Orioles pitcher Kade Strowd hit him in the head.

After the incident, the Blue Jays showed optimism. Springer, who initially remained motionless, was able to walk slowly towards the dugout with assistance.

Before his return, Springer participated in two rehabilitation games with the Triple-A Buffalo team.

In the current season, Springer has a batting average of .291, with 18 home runs and 57 RBIs in 101 games.
