Concern in Atlanta: AJ Smith-Shawver Exited the Game Due to Injury
Braves’ starting pitcher AJ Smith-Shawver had to leave Thursday’s game against the Phillies due to an elbow injury. The game, which ended in a 5-4 loss for the Braves in Philadelphia, forced the player to return to Atlanta for medical tests.
According to Braves manager Brian Snitker, Smith-Shawver informed him that he felt a “pop” in his elbow during the game.
Smith-Shawver’s performance was cut short after only 2.2 innings. The player also took a hard hit to the right ankle from a 96.6 mph pitch connected by Bryson Stott. In his brief appearance, he allowed two runs on three hits, with no decision attributed to him.
